I enlisted in the Coast Guard prior to graduation and shipped out on June 16th to USCG Training Center in Alameda, California. I was assigned to the training center as part of the band and honor guard for over a year. Assigned to my A school at the Navel Training Center in San Diego, CA for 6 month before a transfer to New York City. Several TDA's all over the world including Viet Nam, Germany, Italy, etc. Finally assigned to Ketchikan, AK as lead tech for the medical/dental unit.
I enrolled back at OSU for a few months before heading to Ft. Lauderdale, FL to operate charter boats and get my head on "straight". Back to OSU in 1976 and graduated with BS in Athletic Training, Health Education & Physical Education in 1981. Master's in Health Education in 1983 from OSU followed by Principal and Superintendent certification in 1989. Spent the next year as Principal at Scammon Bay School in the Lower Yukon School District in Alaska. Back to Oregon for various administrative positions in Oregon until 1994.
Joined the Horace Mann Insurance Companies in 1994 with agencies in Oregon and Alaska (Anchorage) before finally retiring in 2007.
My wife, Jan, and I have been on the road full time RV'ing all over the states since. We winter in south Texas and mostly summer in Oregon. I have been operating charter boats off and on throughout the years from Florida to Alaska.
We purchased a small home in Silverton, Oregon two years ago and Jan spends her summers there while travel to work and play in Alaska.

Hi Jane. Wow - what an amazing life you have experienced. I knew you would do good things in school - you were always more adept at the academics than I. My wife's daughter also graduated from Reed some years ago - so we do have that connection. It is interesting to make connections from CHS again. I have mostly lost connections with everyone after graduation. So now with time on my hands - reconnecting seems a good things to do.
